The Art Of Less and Let Go

Tony Mello -- (Being Precedes Doing) Cart Before Horse Hinders LOVE

There can be no panic in this eternal present.  It has never happened before and will never happen again.  Think about what we’re thinking for a second because what’s on our minds will get into them with enough dwelling time. Life is NEVER nearly as serious as our minds make it out to be. We get all jacked up and unglued over someone calling us an idiot.  That’s not even logical.  If we know we’re not an utter imbecile, than it is absurd to ever react the next time someone calls us one.  Anger is the acid that destroys its very own container.  Angry people are fearful people.  Champions in all senses of the word avoid three things:   They don’t judge; they don’t compare; and they don’t compete.  They practice THEIR potential, never someone else’s.  That’s killing time and talent.  I bet everyone who might read this has been stunned by making a hat trick shot or ‘gotten very lucky’ in hitting an insane shot when, In the PRESENT, they didn’t care about making the insane shot.  They just played.  When an archer is shooting for nothing, he has all his skill.  If he shoots for a brass buckle, he is already nervous.  If he shoots for a prize of gold, he goes blind or sees two targets.  He is out of his mind.  His skill has not changed, but the prize divides him.  He cares.  He thinks more of winning than of shooting and the need to win drains him of power. Coach Callipari, UK basketball’s head coach, said something that made much sense.  “If a player depends on me as their PRIMARY source for self-confidence, they have also given me the power to destroy their self-confidence with one single critical word.”
